Thoughtful Thursday: December 1st, 2016

One of the things I like most about being a DIY blogger is that when it comes to DIY, crafts, and just generally being creative, there is no one set route to follow or one specific outcome to achieve. Creativity, at its root, requires the use of imagination and raw materials to create something that had not previously existed. I love walking into an art supply store, with no specific project in mind, and just looking at the materials that are for sale, allowing myself to imagine all the different things I could do with them. I often walk out with a bag full of materials I hadn’t planned on purchasing and a brain full of project plans that hadn’t been in there before. When you open yourself to being creative, and trust your instincts when you have a spark of an idea of something new to create, you can embark on a journey you hadn’t ever even imagined you’d be on.

The creative journey and the awesomeness of being able to make beautiful, complicated, amazing things out of raw materials is what led me to pick today’s Thoughtful Thursday quote by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. I love how it describes taking something that has little value or beauty on its own and using it as a raw material to create something majestic and awe inspiring.  It reminds me to keep an open mind when viewing the world, because with a little creativity, even the mundane can become magical.

I hope it inspires you as well! Stay creative, friends.
